Nepal's largest and most pristine lake – hidden in remote Rara National Park
A journey to Nepal's largest and most pristine lake, hidden away in the remote far-west at 2,990m. Rara's crystal-clear waters shift from deep blue to turquoise depending on the light, surrounded by pine and juniper forests teeming with wildlife — a serene escape far from the trekking crowds.
Rara Lake sits in a national park so remote that most Nepalis have never visited. The flight into Jumla, the quiet trails through Mugu forests, and the lake's extraordinary clarity create an experience of almost meditative solitude in one of the Himalaya's last untouched corners.
Crystal-clear waters, dense forests, and Himalayan solitude – far from crowded trails.
